Adult & High Rank classes Wednesday nights 7:30 p.m - 8:30 p.m. at Pershing.
Lakes Martial Arts for Tiny Tigers
Every "Tiny Tiger" is a winner in this program regardless of ability! Tame YOUR tiger with our "Lakes Life Skills" program, which teaches life skills such as coordination, confidence, focus, respect, and character through martial arts. This class is designed to enhance motor skills like balance, flexibility, and coordination as well as improving listening skills. Each session we will focus on a theme to include Confidence, Respect, Attitude, and Goals. We feature dynamic, supportive teaching in a fun and safe environment.
Lakes Martial Arts for Karate Kids
Our Karate Kids program teaches life skills through martial arts. Each student receives quality martial arts instruction and builds coordination and character at the same time! This "Lakes Martial Arts Black Belt" program is designed for kids who want an on-going martial arts experience. Each session we will focus on a theme to include Confidence, Respect, Attitude, and Goals.Weapons, board-breaks, and sparring techniques are emphasized in a fun, safe environment. Instruction methods encourage students to actively participate in achieving their goals.
Lakes Martial Arts for Adults
The Lakes Martial Arts for Adults & Teens is a specific program designed for students ages 13 and up. In these classes, students will be challenged to do their personal best regardless of physical ability. Students are expected to have a great attitude, a willingness to work and improve to the best of their ability. Benefits include emphasis on fitness, self-defense, and self-confidence. We are proud of our small student-teacher ratio.
Lakes Martial Arts Junior Leadership Program
As part of the Lakes Martial Arts Junior Leadership Program, the Junior Leadership Training Class focuses teaching students leadership skills in taekwondo applicable in life. The program offers students additional responsibility in class and teaches them to be positive role models in Taekwondo and at school. Students learn behaviors that exemplify positive leadership and develop confidence and public speaking skills by giving oral reports on life skills related to leadership. Students learn to set an example for others in class, help mentor junior-ranked students, and to take on a variety of leadership roles at the taekwondo dojahng. Additionally, they learn advanced material including working with weapons such as the double ssahng jeol bong (nunchaku), jahng bong (long staff), and ssahng nat (kama). Program intended for ages 8+ and camo belt or higher with instructors permission.
An additional $60.00 uniform fee is required for all new participants which includes the school and ATA patch. Heavy weight uniforms are available for an additional $25. An instructor will assist in sizing uniforms prior to the start of session. Testing fees additional.
Instructors: Lakes Staff Members include Mr. R. J. Kern, 4th degree black belt, nationally-certified American Taekwondo Association (ATA) Instructor.
